The profile style of a window has a direct impact on how it looks in a property and whether it sits comfortably with the building’s architectural character. Eurocell manufacture several distinct profile systems, each with its own aesthetic and performance characteristics. Understanding the differences allows you to specify the right product first time and give clients informed guidance on which style suits their property.
Chamfered Profiles: Logik
The chamfered profile is the traditional workhorse of the PVC-u window industry. The sightlines feature a 45° chamfer cut along the inner face of the frame and sash, giving a clean angular appearance that works well in most domestic properties. The Logik chamfered system is Eurocell’s entry-level trade range — cost-effective, widely specified, and available in a full range of configurations.
Chamfered profiles suit properties where a neutral, unobtrusive window style is required. They are appropriate for most standard residential replacement work and new build schemes where a traditional but clean aesthetic is specified.
Ovolo Profiles: Logik Ovolo
The ovolo profile features a rounded, convex edge detail on the sightlines rather than the flat chamfer. This softer profile is more closely associated with traditional timber window aesthetics and is particularly appropriate for period properties and conservation-adjacent work where a harder contemporary profile would look out of place.
The Logik Ovolo range is available with Georgian bars, decorative horn details on sash windows, and a range of foil finishes. It is the appropriate choice when replacing windows on Victorian and Edwardian properties, particularly where other windows in the street retain a period appearance.
Flush Casement Profiles
Flush casement windows have the sash sitting flush with the outer face of the frame, rather than projecting proud of it. This creates a flat, uninterrupted appearance on the external elevation — the defining characteristic of both modern contemporary design and traditional timber flush casement windows found on older properties.
The flush profile has grown significantly in popularity as contemporary new builds and barn conversions demand a cleaner line. It is also increasingly specified in conservation areas as a more sympathetic alternative to the traditional projecting sash profile. Flush casements are available in a wide range of colours and dual-colour combinations.
Modus: Premium Contemporary
The Modus system is Eurocell’s premium profile, designed to deliver the slim sightlines and clean geometry of aluminium windows in PVC-u. Modus uses a 70mm outer frame depth and a particularly narrow sightline, making it appropriate for high-specification residential work where the aesthetic demands of slim-framed glazing are required without the cost of aluminium.
Modus windows are available in an extensive range of foil colours and are particularly suited to new build schemes, extensions, and high-end renovation projects. They are the right choice when the client wants a contemporary, minimal frame appearance and is prepared to pay the corresponding premium over standard chamfered profiles.
